Biscotti are Italian cookies that are wonderfully light, crisp and perfect for dipping coffee. The word “Biscotti” is derived from Latin word “bis” , means “twice”, and “coctus”, means “cooked”, referring to the fact that the dough is baked twice.
The first round in the oven was used to cook the dough and the second round dried, preserved and to create a crisp, dry texture for the biscotti. Our Biscotti Recipe is adapted from many online recipes and we bake them different kind of flavor:
- Classic Biscotti (Plain)
- Cranberry Almond Biscotti
- Mixed Fruits Biscotti
- Dark Chocochips Biscotti
- Gluten Free Almond Biscotti
Biscotti, also known as cantucci, are Italian cookies that originated in the region of Tuscany. Biscotti are twice-baked known for their hardness and crunch. This baking process gives them a long shelf life and a unique texture that's perfect for dunking in coffee, tea, or Vin Santo, a sweet dessert wine.
Traditionally, biscotti are flavored with almonds, but there are many variations out there that include other nuts, chocolate, dried fruits, and spices. They are typically shaped into logs, baked once, sliced, and then baked again at a lower temperature to dry them out completely. They are not meant to be soft and chewy like many American cookies.
